International Organization Selects 10 Fedpoffa Mass Com. Students For Training
The Africa Check, a fact checking international organization has selected 10 students from Department of Mass Communication, Federal Polytechnic Offa to participate in Health Misinformation Workshop.
The program was held online on 7th of September 2020 with conglomerations of selected scholars from Nigerian schools,
The program which was strictly meant for Mass Communication students was subdivided into three (3) segments and anchored by three (3) different facilitators. The first anchor was Dr. Yahyah Disu from Nigeria centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Dr. Disu orientates the participants on the causes, effect and preventive measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and how to over come the pandemic.
The second speaker, a representative from Africa Fact Checking organization, Mr. David Ajikobi orientates the trainees on journalism practice with touch of professionalism.
The last speaker, Liesl Pretorius from South Africa, who is a professional fact checker conducted a peaceful and enjoyable training on how to fact check fake news.
Meanwhile, the trainees from the Federal Polytechnic Offa performed well by scoring the highest grade in the program.
Owolabi Abdulateef Usman scored 80%, Musa Muritala Bada scored 83%, Hassan Ayinde Ridwan scored 85%, while Omoniyi Jamiu scored 88% respectively.
