Jimoh Taofeek, Kwara State

Hajiya Sa'adatu Modibb, Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education has assured students in the state of continuing efforts being put in place to ensure resumption of school activities in two weeks time.

The commissioner disclosed this today during telephone interview on 'News Review', a programme on Okin 105.7 FM.

While reacting to the question on how soon tertiary institutions in the state would resume, she said: "we know our students are in a hurry to resume, but I can tell you vehemently that before two weeks, our institutions in the state will be reopened."

On compliance with NCDC and PTF protocols, she disclosed: "that's the reason we are going round (institutions in the state) to ensure preventive measures, and I can tell you that over 80% are doing very, very well. Yes, we have few that haven't, so we give them few days and we would return to check. I met with the students last week and we have told them what the plans is going to look like. We had a training in the Ministry last week, and we also told them we would be visiting institutions in the state this week, so we can ascertain the level of preparedness in these institutions. The whole idea is to ensure safe reopening of our campuses."

Hajiya Modibb emphasized that members of the Ministry have met with Heads of Academic Planning on how to readjust schools' academic calendars to help students fit in academic activities,  based on the outcome of meeting with students associations last week and Technical Committee on COVID19 on preventive measures.

It would be recalled that the state government directed the Ministry of Tertiary Education to hold 4-day meeting on the safe reopening of schools.
