INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY: VARSH'S Campaign Against Rape And Other Gender Based Violence

March 8, has been a day set aside globally as the international women's day.
In commemoration of this year's international women's day, Voices Against Rape and Sexual Harassment, (VARSH), a NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS, that is against women abuse and other related violences. Took to the streets of Osogbo to campaign against female discrimination and abuse.
The campaign walk kick started at the famous oke fia round about, the VARSH members, had a brief moment to sensitize the market Women at the Akindeko Market in Alekunwodo. They charged the women to see their selves as a person of substance. And that they should never condone the act of Rape or any form of female gender abuse.
From Alekunwodo, the VARSH'S Campaign train moved to the ministry of Women and children affairs, at Abeere.
At the ministry of Women and children affairs, the Hon Commissioner for women and children affairs, Mrs. Olaboopo Olubukola Rihanat Commend the efforts of the VARSH'S team. She says, they're the evidence that Nigerian youths are not Miscreants.
Mrs. Olaboopo Olubukola Rihanat Also assures them that the present government in the state of Osun, is fully determined to fight against Rape and any other gender based violence.
She further says all those caught in the act of Rape, have been penalized and most of them are now In the correctional center.
In an interview with the convener of VOICES AGAINST RAPE AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT, Salvation Aworanti, says the motive behind the VARSH'S movement, is to sensitize the women in the society and to let them know that they also have a say in the society.
Miss Aworanti, further says they hope the government will come to their aid and also help to fight against all forms of molestations on women.
