FACTS CHECK ON FALSE REPORTAGE AGAINST THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC OFFA

The Polytechnic attention has been drawn to a baseless and nauseating write up on Facebook by one Genesis Keneth which we belief is a pseudo name. We want to inform the general public that all allegations stated in the write up are fraudulently false, fabricated and of the haunting and obsess imagination of the writer. The litany of accusations which is frivolous and a mere figment of the mind of the writer further exposed his psychological and emotional precariousness.

A character named in the write up, the said legal husband of the alleged woman, Mr. Rasaq Aderemi Bankole is no longer a staff of the Polytechnic, having been found guilty of gross misconduct, as a result of flagrant violation of the Polytechnic extant rules. Apart from his inglorious exit from the Polytechnic, he is also wanted by TETFund for taking Oversea Grant for Post Graduate studies and failed to utilize the money for that purpose.

Before Dr. Olatunji became Rector in 2017, the Staff Disciplinary Committee has found Mr. Bankole guilty of abscondment and dereliction of duties. He was equally found guilty of insubordination and disregard to constituted authority. The case was inherited by the new Management who on compassionate ground directed him to complete his programme and return back to the Polytechnic, a directive he never complied with.

Since the Polytechnic is not owned by Dr. Olatunji, there is a limit to the magnanimity he can offer him, and to avoid setting an atrocious precedent, the Management gave him a final option of either resuming back to the Polytechnic or have his appointment terminated. These are the facts of the case. There are several others misdemeanors which time and space will not allow us to state here for now.

The writer should stop his sheer blackmail and assassinating the character of the Rector, thus soiling the good name of the Polytechnic for his selfish and sinister purpose.

Dr. L. A. Olatunji, a scholar per excellence, an indefatigable and a highly cerebral academia, rose steadily through the ranks as a Lecturer 1 to Chief Lecturer and eventually Rector. He is the most outstanding Rector in the history of the almost 3 decades of the Polytechnic. Dr. Olatunji is a man of exemplary character, hardworking and strong moral principles. A quintessential leader, a man with the philosophy of integrity and excellence.

Before becoming Rector, he was HOD Financial Studies and later Accountancy Department, Director of School of Business and Management Studies, Director Poly Consult and Dean Students’ Affairs without any blemish. His unsurpassable performances earned him the award of Best Staff.

In 2016, he was appointed the 4th substantive Rector of the Polytechnic by the President in a keenly contested position. Many giant strides were recorded during Dr. Olatunji’s tenure as Rector. Staff welfare top the list of his priority and he also ensure quick response to solving staff and students challenges which no doubt was responsible for the numerous awards bestowed upon him by National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the National Executives of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnic (SSANIP), who awarded him best Rector in Nigeria on staff welfare.

Since Dr. Olatunji became Rector, The Federal Polytechnic Offa has become the most sought after Polytechnic in Nigeria according to JAMB ranking. Presently Federal Polytechnic Offa is ranked 8th position by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) among all the Polytechnics in Nigeria.   Olatunji’s amiable style of leadership and laudable achievements are open for everybody to see. Obviously, a man with such busy schedules and responsibilities will have no time for such frivolities and can never engage himself or be caught in the web of such activities. If the writer is certain of his allegations, he should approach necessary agencies instead of displaying his stupidity and cowardice on social media. It is in the interest of Media practitioners to  verify claims before publishing.
