Borno Sets To Hold Eid Prayer, Asks 60years And Above Persons To Stay At Home.



The Deputy Governor of Borno State, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur has approved the citizens to hold eid El-Fitr prayer to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

This approval was given under certain preventive measures occasioned by Borno State High Powered Committe on the prevention and mitigation of Covid-19 headed by the Deputy Governor.

The Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Zulum directed the committee led by  Deputy Governor to make consultation with Sheu of Borno and then host a meeting to  be attended by Imam Idaini of Borno and all Imams of Eid praying grounds in the metropolis to keenly discuss the possibility of allowing Eid prayers across the state but under severe preventive measures.

The Deputy Governor however said, " I wish to reiterate that all decisions were taken in good faith, in accordance with the responsibility of our government,  I wish to state further that the  committee held wide consultations with the Ulamas and resolve to amicable settlement."

Some of the resolutions of the committee with the Ulamas agreed with the public to observe Eid-Prayers at designated praying grounds between 8am-10am.

The committee in compliance with preventive measures will make hand sanitizers available at  strategic points for use by public and mandated the public to take full advantage of such with the use of face masks and social distancing.

Meanwhile, the Government have asked people that are above 60 years old and particularly with chronic diseases to such as diabetes, asthma,  chronic respiratory diseases among others to stay at home and observe their prayers.
