Fedpoffa Management Sets Up Covid-19 Committee Ahead Of Resumption
The Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State led by Dr. Lateef Olatunji has set up a commitee to work on safety measures to be deployed by the management staff and students ahead of resumption.
The committee headed by Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi was set up in line with the Federal Government's directive to all institutions to commence online lectures and work out modalities for safer environment against the spread of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the committee has resolved to commence online lectures for the students of the Federal Polytechnic Offa in order to fill the vacuum occasioned by the pandemic.
The Chairman of the Polytechnic Covid-19 committee said the management will put everything in order and work out more strategies that would favour the students before the online lectures would commence.
Speaking on resumption, Dr. Olarongbe said "the Federal Government has been planning to introduce cross section classes in a recent release and added that the Polytechnic has to tilt along that direction. He said all students can not resume at the same time. Students will be segmented according to their schools to write examination.
He said, " If School of Communication are called back to write their papers this week, School of Business and Management Studies can be next batch. This will be done to maintain strict compliance with social and physical distancing directive."
Meanwhile, the Dean of Students' affairs, Mr. Gbenga Aleminu added that Covid-19 has come to teach Nigerians many things which include technological advancement. He said as the world is changing, both staff and students must be ready to queue in.
He further stressed that the committee set up by the school management will put all preventive measures into consideration such as keeping social and physical distancing, the use of face masks, hand sanitizer, the use of thermometer, liquid detergent and water among others.
He added, "If institutions are to wait for Covid-19 to end before making decisions, all institutions will not get anything done. This is a new challenge that must be faced before we can overcome it."
