Fedpoffa Rector Applauds Mass Communication Students, Commends 'HOD' For Embarking On SDGs
Following the recent land mark feats achieved by Mass Communication Department under the leadership of the Head of Department, Mr. Wole Alawode, the Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji has applauded the Department for making the institution proud.
Dr. Olatunji made this known during a courtesy visit by the Head of Department of Mass Communication and selected students working on Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs).
While addressing the students, the Rector on behalf of the Management assured the Department of maximum support towards achieving their desired goals.
He said: " I want to commend Mass Communication Department as a whole for the good work they have been doing so far. It is on the record that the department started with #NoToSexForGrade campaign which was embraced at the National, State and Local levels respectively. A student from the department recently emerged winner of Entrepreneurship contest organised by National Association of Nigeria. Now, we are having students working on Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) in partnership with International Organizations. The Management commends these remarkable feats and will continue to support the department to achieve more."
He therefore charged the students to put more efforts and always strive for academic excellence.
Recalled that Africa Check, a fact checking International Organization selected 10 students from Department of Mass Communication, Federal Polytechnic Offa to participate in Health Misinformation Workshop and how to nail down fake news in the society.
The program held online on 7th of September 2020 with conglomerations of selected scholars from Nigerian schools was strictly meant for Mass Communication students and was subdivided into three (3) segments anchored by three (3) different facilitators. Meanwhile, the trainees from the Federal Polytechnic Offa performed well by scoring highest in the program.
Owolabi Abdulateef Usman scored 80%, Musa Muritala Bada scored 83%, Hassan Ayinde Ridwan scored 85%, while Omoniyi Jamiu scored 88% respectively.
The HOD, Mr. Wole Alawode however acknowledged the Management led by Dr. Olatunji for creating an enabling environment for research, development and academic excellence for staff and students of the Polytechnic.
