Borno Governor Visits Terrorised Local Government Secretariats, Takes Roll-call Of Absentees

Borno State Governor, Prof. Zulum undertook surprise tour to six Local Government areas in Southern and Central Borno state to monitor the quality of governance at the grassroots level and to assess projects.

Without knowing his destination, Prof. Zulum departed Borno on Wednesday and drove to Chibok, Nama,Gwoza, Damboa, Konduga and Askira respectively. 

The State government had earlier instructed the government's  officials and senior civil servants to report back to work after easing the lock down in the state but senior officials including some secretaries who oversee affairs were absent with secretariat mostly empty when Governor arrived.

However, the Governor took roll call of absentees secretaries, heads of department, directors and other ranking officials.

He said, " None of the heads of department is around neither the secretary nor the other principal officers are reporting to duty. Look at the Secretariat, termites all over which is an indication that nobody is operating in the Secretariat. Government cannot this situation to continue."

"We have been pleading with them for sometime to be operating from these Local Government areas so that the citizens will feel the impact of governance  at the grassroots but from all indication, many are not listening. We will take punitive measure because we cannot allow this system to continue." He added.
