The Kano State Public Complaint And Anti-Corruption Commission has warned that the commission is ready to embark on legal fight with whoever diverts Covid-19 palliative materials for his private use in the state.
This was made known through a statement that was given by the Commission Chairman, Muhuyi Rimingado earlier today.
He said, people have brought it to their awareness that some Local Governments Chairmen are sharing the relief materials among their loyalists and party members as against the directives given to them to distribute it evenly among the most vulnerables and the less privileged in their locality irrespective of religion or political affiliation.
He said the palliatives are donations from individuals and organizations in the state in a view that it will alleviate hunger and suffering of the most vulnerable people in the state during the lockdown.
He continued, saying, “It is not in any way a personal property that can be used for political purposes”.
In his words, “Anything contrary to that offends the provision of section 26 of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 2008 (As Amended).
And further stressed that whoever caught in the act of diverting palliatives to his private use would face the wrath of law.
“It is, therefore, hoped that all those involved in the distribution/management of the COVID-19 palliatives in Kano State will be guided by the law,” he added.
