Salaudeen Teslim, Kwara
The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has solicited for the support of the Labour Union and Civil Societies in the state to encourage members to volunteer in stopping illegal inflow of people into the state.
The governor made this know on Monday in a virtual meeting with the Chief Security Officers in the state with a view that it will reduce the continued spread of Covid 19 in the state.
The governor hereby promised that all volunteers would be given incentives and security cover to help them discharge the duty abound on them well.
In his words, the volunteers would form a surveillance team that will be monitoring the illegal inflow of people especially, from parts of the state like Oko Olowo, Jebba, and Eyen-Nkorin where large illegal inflow of people were recorded in the past few days.
In his word, governor Abdulrazaq said, “It has been established that some people sneak into the state between 10pm and 5am. This poses a grave danger to us when you consider the fact that virtually all our COVID-19 cases were imported. We will like to have volunteers from the organised labour and the civil society, who, working with the security agencies, will man our borders between those hours,” he stated.
Salientreporters also gathered that the invitation of the CSO's was also proposed to ensure that relief materials made available with public funds get to all Kwarans without biases that may be prompted by political affiliations or interest.
