Good News: Ondo Govt. Takes Lead Role, Lifts Partial Ban On Religious Activities




Despite the Federal Government restriction order on social gathering and religious activities, Ondo State Governor, Akeredolu has taken lead role ahead of other states to relief partial ban on religious activities in the state.

Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu disclosed this during a press briefing on Wednesday. He added that the decision was considered after  wide consultation and review with religious leaders and other stakeholders I the state.

The Governor further stressed that Churches  will only operate on Sundays while Mosques will be opened on Fridays.

He said, weekly Friday Jumat services will commence in the first instance while other daily programmes within the week are not yet approved for take-off.

Meanwhile, the Governor noted that religious leaders and administrators must ensure strict compliance with the social and physical distancing in the places of worship.

Giving the condition of services in churches, the Governor said not more than three people are allowed to sit on a pew while the equivalent applies to the sitting positions in the mosques and other worship centers as well.

Speaking further, Governor Akeredolu said water, soap, hand sanitizers must be provided at all entries or halls of worship and all worshipers must be compelled to wash their hands in orderly pattern approved by NCDC and WHO.

He however vowed to shut  down any Church or Mosque that fail to abide by the rules and regulations.
