ASUP  Donates 100 Seater Digital Classroom To Fedpoffa









The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ( ASUP) Zone C has commenced the building of 100 seater digital class room donated to the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State.

The ASUP Zone C coordinator, Engr. Yekini Asafe during the foundation stone laying ceremony held at the polytechnic's main campus commended the leadership of the Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji for maintaining a cordial relationship with the branch union and  at the same time, for quick response to the Union's request to erect 100 seater  digital classroom in the Polytechnic.



Engr. Yekini, in his address, said the idea of 100 seater digital classroom was birthed during 'Zone C'  zonal meeting held in July and after the approval of the national body,  letter was written to the chapters that could benefit from the project within the zone.

According to him, " We are happy to be here today at the foundation stone laying ceremony of  100 seater digital classroom donated by our Union to the Federal Polytechnic Offa and by the grace of God, this project has time frame and I will be very much glad to be here again shortly to commission it"


"Unionism is no more about agitation for this and that, we have to find ways of supporting our institutions as one of the stakeholders and that is why we have come up with this idea and everybody agreed. There is no event that would attract a greater aspiration than this kind of thing we want to do in an academic environment."


Meanwhile, the Rector, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji acknowledged the presence of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics' ( ASUP) executives from different higher institutions of learning and commended the kind gesture of 100 digital classroom extended to the Federal Polytechnic Offa by the Union.


He  said, " On behalf of the Management team, staff and students of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, I want to show gratitude to ASUP leadership for this uncommon show of love and genuine interest to partner with us for accomplishment of academic excellence in the Polytechnic. We would be eternally grateful to your leadership for physical expression of your belief in our administration to reposition Polytechnic education and make it the hub of the desired technology advancement in the 21st century."

The Rector, who described the project as magnanimous one from the Academic Union appreciated the facilitators of  the project, the ASUP National President, Comrade Anderson Ezeibe, ASUP zone C coordinator, Comrade Yekini Asafe, ASUP Fedpoffa Chairman, Engr. Dr. Waheed Balogun  for deeming it  appropriately to pitch tent with  purpose driven administration to contribute to the development and  academic excellent in the Polytechnic."


Dr. Olatunji who was recently awarded as the  'Best Rector in Staff Welfare' by SSANIP reiterated the commitment of his administration towards academic excellence and staff development.

Also, the ASUP Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic Offa chapter, Engr. Dr. Waheed Balogun expressed gratitude to ASUP  Zonal Coordinator, Engr. Yekini Asafe for coming up with the innovation, and also to ASUP Zone C members and the branch members entirely.

 He said, " The 100 seater digital classroom project is a turning point in the era of the Union. It is a general belief that the Unionism is always about agitation and antagonism, whereas, currently, there is a paradigm shift from the old manners which is now complementary rather than derogatory. The Unionism is now more of advancement and development of the system."


" I here by congratulate the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Olatunji, the entire Management team, the staff and students of the Polytechnic for this historic attainment," he added.
