Corruption OR Mistake: Abba Kyari, Replaced Officials Still Among Buhari's Aides
Abba Kyari died of Covid-19 complications on April 17th, 2020 and was replaced by Prof. Ibrahim Gambari on May 13, 2020. More than a week after Prof. Ibrahim's announcement, Abba Kyari still among the list of Buhari's aides.
More so, Special Adviser to the President and Coordinator of Presidential Amnesty Programme, Prof. Charles Dokubo who was suspended in February is still on the list of Buhari's aides.
It could be recalled that Dokubo was suspended based on recommendation of the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and up till now, he is occupying the list of special advisers to the President.
Similarly, the Presidency on July 3, 2019 announced the death of Tijjani Yusuf who served as Special Assistant to the President on General Duties but Late Tijjani is still on the list of special assitants to Mr. President.
Another person, Shaaban Sharada who won election in 2019 as a member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives is still on the list.
Meanwhile, Punch had reported earlier since November 2019, that some government officials who had been replaced including late officials still made the updated list of political appointees.
From November 2019 to May 2020, no effort was made to update the list.
President Muhammadu Buhari's led administration which is known for anti curroption mantra could not update the list of replaced and late officials. Are they still earning salaries as serving officials even when they are out of government? It is expected of serious government to keep up to date records for proper transpsrency and accountability.
